About LegalB
At the heart of democracy is the promulgation and application of legislation that is in the service of the rule of law. ... The LegalB online database has been created by Advocate Rita Felgate as a tool for legal professionals such as herself, that assist in identifying whether the promulgation and application of South African legisltion falls above or below that fine line above which the rule of law operates, and below which it fails.
Advocate Rita Felgate
Rita has a BA, BA Honours ( Psychology) and an LLB, is an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa and is registered with the Legal Practice Council of South Africa. Her career path started in the commercial banking and insurance field, moved to socio-political research and community development, and is currently focused on tools to aid the practice of law, by developing a practically applicable definition of the Rule of Law and Rule of Law Standards derived from basic principles of the Rule of Law, and the development of a unique database of South African legislation that allows for audits against those Standards.
She has particular interests in administrative law, legislative law, systems theory and change, and governance. Her forte is the development of a heuristic definition of the Rule of Law and Rule of Law Standards relevant to measurement of compliance with the Rule of Law, legislative compliance, research, and content analysis
